Handley & Co. was born from a love of painting furniture in a remote village on Isle of Skye. Owner Lisa Nisbett is a kiwi living far from her home with her Scottish husband and two children and whist Lisa was a stay-at-home-mum she started to upcycle furniture as a way of having a creative outlet. It soon lead to selling her up cycled creations from home and she decided she would like to explore an option of a 'pop up shop' for the summer of 2017.
One option was a wee empty shop next to a lighting store in her village of Kyleakin but the owner of The Isle of Skye Lighting Company saw more in Lisa and asked if she would be interested in buying her business, and thats where it all begins.....
Lisa bought the lighting store in February 2017 and her dream then developed into expanding the lighting range and introducing some truely beautiful wee products to the area, such as stunning gifts, homeware, jewellery, art and she even still managed a tiny bit of upcycled furniture between it all.
"We expanded pretty quick, adding all sorts of new ranges into the lighting selection and introducing a huge range of new products to the store too - 100% wool blankets from The Tartan Blanket Company, stunning Scottish landscapes by Cath Waters, highland country homeware, beautiful Scottish seaglass jewellery, handmade candles from Isle of Lewis, local artisan crafts, chalk paint + accessories, Sophie Allport, Stoneglow Candles and much much more"
The store is unique to the area and has an interesting range of products, Lisa is usually on hand to help with advice from lighting your home effectively, picking the right bulbs and LED technology, to home decoration and up cycling furniture.
We are in Kyleakin, just as you arrive onto Isle of Skye, pop in, say hi, we might just have what you are looking for or maybe even just a lovely treat.
